Swimming

Tanner loves to play in the water. This video shows him the first time we let him play in his pool outside. It also shows numerous tricks and talents he has. My favorite being: "stretch up tall, touch your toes, and spin around." He is turning into such a bright kid. Anyway, hope you all enjoy watching.

Actually: I lied this is a shorter version of the video so you don't get to see my favorite. Anyway, enjoy watching he is still super cute in this one.

Why working nights is...almost the same as drinking?

Me and my co-worker were talking this morning about how similar the effects of working nights is the same as drinking alcohol. I've never had alcohol and don't plan on it either, but here is what we decided the two had in common.

1. You can't think straight.
2. You think slower.
3. You can be a bit off balance.
4. You slur your speech.
5. You are more likely to do or say things you don't normally do or say.
6. You get either really silly or really angry.
7. You aren't in complete control of yoursel.
8. You can get nauseas.

Luckily, for me we figured out a few things that the two did not have an common.

1. You don't have a hangover when you wake up from sleep deprivation.
2. It isn't as addictive.

Hope this was entertaining for some of you....if not sorry....it was this morning....after not sleeping all night and only sleeping a few hours during the day, Smile!

TRUCKS!

Yesterday, me and Tanner decided to go to the library. I told him as we got in the "truck" that we had a busy day so we wouldn't get to go look at books just return the ones we had. As we began our journey down the road his favorite rant began.
"Momma"
"What Tanner?"
"Look trucks"
"Yep, those are trucks Tanner."
10 seconds goes by....
"Momma"
"Yes, honey"
"Trucks"
"Your right their are still trucks on the road."
5 seconds goes by...
"Oh Trucks"
"Yep there are still trucks"
This continues all the way to the library.

When we reached the library, I realized that they have decided to begin construction on the new community center/library. I knew I was in trouble very soon after.
"Trucks!!!! Momma. Trucks!!!!"
"Yes, honey those are trucks to do you want to sit and watch them for a minute."
(Of course he does, but all he can say is trucks over and over and over.)
We sit by the library for a few minutes as he continues to tell me that there are trucks.
"OK, we need to go now so we can go run our other errands."

I pull away and he begins to scream, not just a little scream, no a scream that is like I am never going to let him see a truck again. It takes a moment to calm him down, but really it wasn't too hard, especially when I know what he wants. I begin to point out all the trucks on the road. Which isn't too hard because anything that drives around is a truck except for airplanes and bikes. He eventually calms down. I'm still not sure if him loving trucks so much is a curse or a blessing, but it certainly keeps me entertained while driving because, in Utah county we are bound to see one at least every 10-15 seconds.

Bookworm

Class had been typical. I sat in my chair anxiously awaiting my freedom. "Ring. Ring. Ring." I swiftly jumped from my chair and headed for the door. I downed my tuna sandwich as I headed for my place of safety. Wrede, Brooks, Card, Salvatore: my homes. I scanned the shelves for the newest book added to the series. Angel Fire East pops into my hand. My eyes dart over the back of the book as my legs carry me to check it out. "Beep." It is done. My eyes are now glued. I consume the pages. The bell rings. I walk to class my eyes never leaving the page. I sit in my chair. The book slips under the table for my eyes, not the teachers. He begins speaking. I continue to delve further in. He writes the homework on the board. I glance up and quickly scribble the words. The bell rings and I'm off carefully dodging students. My eyes never leaving the words. As the school day ends I begin my walk home book open, eyes down.

"While momma was sleeping..."

Every morning when I get home from work Tanner is so excited. He knows he gets to get into mischief of one kind and another, especially in the morning when my eyes have a hard time staying open. Usually it is just pulling all of his toys out of his room and distributing them randomly throughout the trailer. Other times it is a bit more exciting, like when he got into his diaper wipes and decided to pull each of them out of the container individually and then throw them into infinite piles across the family room.

Since then I've learned that it is very important to make sure to put things he shouldn't be able to reach up really high or in a room he can't get into, or else I am the one to blame not him. Once I opened my eyes to discover him sitting with his bottle turned upside down watching it drip slowly all over the couch. Luckily for me, I'm not always that tired when I get home which means he really only gets to have fun about once a month, which is fine with me. Kids should get to be kids sometimes.

SPLISH SPLASH!!!!

Yesterday, me and Tanner decided to try playing in the hose since he had so much fun doing it at his Grandparent's in Duchesne. He did not enjoy getting sunscreen put on, acutally his exact words were "DON'T!!!!" He also tried to run away. As soon as he realized we were going outside though he got over his "don't" attitude.

Once he had the hose in his hands there was no getting it back. I was glad I wore a swimming suit because he thought it was fun to spray me with it. This probably had something to do with the fake scream I let out everytime he sprayed me with the cold water.

After a while of this and watering the grass, I thought it would be fun to show him to stomp his feet in the water. While I did this I said,
"Splish splash taking a bath." He thought it was quite fun and copied me saying, "Splash. Splash. Splash." It was very very cute.

Anyway after a while of that I put the hose away and promised him we would try it again in the very near future since he was so good. He then screamed and threw a tantrum in protest, but eventually got over it and began to play with the snow shovel for a while which is another story for another time.
